Merhar and Kirby advance to the state golf semi finals after Merhar defeated Alen Scott 7 6 and Kirby won, while Ferguson and Morris face off in the other semi. Morning rounds begin at 8 30 with an 18 hole match at 1 p m.
The Coscarart brothers all appeared in the same Seattle Portland game. Coffee Joe played third for Seattle, Steve was at second for Portland, and Phil pinch hit for Portland. Ages range from 19 to 23 with a sister at home to cheer.

Helena July 27 Special Upwards of 250 thoroughbreds were arriving for the Lewis and Clark Racing association six day meet at the Montana state fair grounds. A starting gate will be used for the first time in Helena and will be tested Sunday. Races start at 4 40 each afternoon to suit workers and avoid peak heat. The independent meet has drawn strong interest as no state fair this season should boost attendance.
