In Chicago on July 27 two bandits were killed when roadhouse owner Tony Sodo ambushed them as they looted patrons. A confederate escaped with about 300 dollars in cash and jewelry, leaving behind Milton Simons 20 and Alexander Zill 25, both slain. Authorities questioned Simons continued on page 2.

Huge Distilling Plant Seized by Federal Men
Federal prohibition agents aided by city detectives raided 501 Warren Avenue in Butte early yesterday and seized a large distilling operation described as one of the citys finest. Frank Smith, in charge, was detained at the city jail for government. He faces arraignment on a manufacturing intoxicating liquor charge. Two 300 gallon stills, 49 barrels of mash, 100 gallons of melonshine, and other ingredients were confiscated and mostly destroyed. The raid, led by agents Ben Holter and Ed Donovan with detectives Rodda and Gerry, occurred shortly before 4 am.
