Senate investigators accuse United Textile Workers leaders Anthony Valente and Lloyd Klenert of improper use of 128405 in union funds and prod them to resign. Allegations detail purchases including a corkscrew, diaper service, Broadway tickets, vacations and home purchases. Klenert denies nothing. records show prior misused funds and loans.

In Burlingame California Elaine Soule 19 is charged with first degree murder in the stabbing of Catherine Elvins 19 whose body was found after an early Wednesday incident. Prosecutors seek grand jury indictment and describe a $160 check as a disputed motive.
The body of Billy A. Basham, 23, of Troy, returned for funeral services after a foggy San Fernando crash while he rode home from work. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Basham.
John Allan Cook 58 a former Dillon man dies in a crash on a remote mountain road near Dillon. He was a passenger in a pickup that overturned and struck a tree. Funeral services set for Monday at 3 p.m. at Mount Moriah Lodge No 24 AF AM with burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
East Montana sees cooler Saturday with partly cloudy skies and scattered thundershowers. Highs 80 to 90, Sunday 85 to 95 with isolated storms, nights 48 to 58. West Montana partly cloudy through Sunday with few thunderstorms, cooler Saturday, highs 75 to 85 rising to 80 to 90 Sunday, nights 45 to 55. Missoula, Montana. A fiery blaze Friday afternoon destroyed the Western Montana Packing Co. plant two miles north of Missoula on Rattlesnake road after burning nearly two hours. Owner Percy Glasscock estimates about 200000 in loss, with partial insurance. Firefighters faced water pressure problems as they battled grass fires around the pumice block building. The Loesch family home beside the plant also burned. volunteers saved furniture and kept goods under pine trees.
