Talks Continue Today Between Company Mine Mill Negotiators
Negotiators for Mine Mill and the Anaconda Co. extended overtime bargaining before recessing to 9 30 Thursday morning. They have met off and on since June 6 to reach a new labor contract. Keeley 65 Mining City Executives Dies After Illness
Edward J Keeley 65 a Butte businessman and former Montana War Production Board secretary died in a local hospital after an extended illness. A Des Moines native he moved to Montana as a child, lived in Miles City and Butte, and attended Butte High School. He served in World War I and remained active in sports and civic groups.

Consecration Date Set For Helena Diocese Bishop

More than 1,000 idle workers at the Butte office of the Montana Employment Service sought unemployment compensation on Wednesday as the Anaconda Co strike halted work on Butte Hill. Estimates put total idled at about 2,500 by Tuesday.

William Gleason Fatally Hurt In Fall At Whittier School
William J. Gleason, 40, of 2215 Cross Drive, died after a fall in the Whittier School boiler room. The Le Sage's electrician suffered probable head injuries, found by his father, and was taken to St. James Hospital where he passed away. Coroner Andy Aleksich will investigate the scene.

Toll climbs to 117 in Montana highway deaths
The Montana highway fatality toll rose to 117 with the death of 16 year old Charles Carey of Greenacres Washington from injuries in a July 19 one car crash on U S Highway 89 near Rainsford and Monarch Cascade County deputies reported seven injuries including Adrian and Barbara Nichols of Havre and their children Elizabeth Chancey and David ages 1 month six and five along with Carey and another Havre resident.
