The Anaconda Comp any board met in Butte and reviewed routine matters. Directors from New York included Roy H. Glover chairing, Clyde E. Weed, Robert E. Dwyer, C. J. Parkinson, J. Luther Cleveland, Maurice Newton, Howard C. Shepherd, and C. E. Moran acted as secretary. Two directors could not attend. The group planned tours to Kelley Mine, Anaconda Reduction Works, surface plants in Butte, East Helena, Great Falls, Glacier National Park, and the Anaconda Aluminum plant at Columbia Falls.

Passenger Blown From Plane After Hole Appears
A Western Airlines Convair lost a 28 square foot fuselage opening at 10 000 feet over the Mojave Desert as 62 year old retired North Hollywood jeweler F Binstock insured for 125 000 was blown from the airliner. The plane landed safely. 12 passengers and three crew unharmed. Air Force teams found fuselage fragments near Daggett and George AFB with four holes speculated as from explosion or decompression. Anaconda Man Dies From Brain Hemorrhage After Car Crash
An autopsy found William Arnot 53 died from extensive brain hemorrhage believed from an automobile accident on July 5 near Flint Creek hill on the Anaconda Philipsburg highway. Arnot, a foundry watchman for The Anaconda Company, had not sought medical aid after the collision.

Three Die in Pittsburgh Car Bombing on East Ohio Street
A 29 year old man Arthur DePew and his wife Elaine 18 were killed when a bomb exploded in a car on East Ohio Street in the North Side of Pittsburgh. An 8 year old bystander Linda Krause died later and seven others were injured including Linda’s sister Joan. Police called it murder by the perpetrator’s own action as nearby witnesses recounted the blast and aftermath.
