Trapped Garage Man Burned Then Died
Havre Montana July 24 Mathias Garding 44 a Havre garage man was trapped in an overturned sedan and badly burned before escaping. He wandered delirious on the prairie with ears burned and body scorched and died at a hospital after being brought in. He had been en route to Kremlin to fetch his wife from their homestead.

Butte sweltered as official records show 91 degrees in the afternoon marking the hottest day of the year. While not the all time high, 95 and 96 have been recorded in past years making this a rare extreme with sparse street traffic and no heat fatalities or sunstroke reported.
