Motor Scooter Hurts Boy on Butte’s South Side
Seven year old Daniel Trbovich was struck by a motor scooter near his home in Butte and is in serious condition at St. James Community Hospital with possible internal injuries. Police say he darted from behind a parked car and the scooter driver Barbara Cashill, 16, was identified.

Whitehall Tragedy: Millegan Girl Drowns at Werner Reservoir
Margene Millegan a 16 year old Whitehall High School junior drowns at Werner Reservoir five miles south of Whitehall while swimming with friends. Corrine Bolland 12 of Livingston attempts a rescue but Miss Millegan passes from the deep hole. Rescue efforts by companions and Mrs Millegan fail and the body is recovered about an hour later.

Butte Boy Saves Girl From Drowning at Lake
A 17-year-old Butte High School student, Gary Hunt, rescued a 22-year-old Phoenix girl who fell from a Denton’s Point dock into Georgetown Lake. He pulled her from nearly six feet of water with two companions nearby. The rescued woman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Hollaender, is alive and grateful visitors from Phoenix later praised Hunt’s courage.
