Forest fire near Butte controlled risks and CCC recall
A 400 acre wildfire in the Whitehall Boulder sector of Deer Lodge National Forest was declared under control last night. About 175 CCC enrollees from Whitehall and Flint Creek camps aided the effort started Sunday by lightning on Ra tion mountain. The blaze, driven by a southwest wind, at one point had a six mile perimeter and a three quarter mile front. Conditions remain serious across Montana Idaho and Washington.
