New Record Set in Yule Trees

Flathead and Lincoln counties produced 60 percent, Missoula 22 percent, and Texas bought most of the trees sent to 25 states. Air Force Squadron transfer announced to Larson AFB

Montana's 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron, dating to 1917 and the Air Force's oldest, will move from Great Falls to Larson Air Force Base. The unit performs the in-air RBF-84 with B-36 operations. It will be supported by Fairfield AFB Spokane’s 348th squadron. About 35 officers and 155 enlisted personnel will transfer.

Albuquerque prospector returns wallets found in YMCA and hotel

Charlie Hickerson, a part time prospector in Albuquerque, found a billfold at the YMCA and returned it to a guest. He later found another wallet in a hotel lobby and wrote to the owner Richard Page of Haverhill Massachusetts about the discovery.

Bitterroot Forest Spruce Is Sprayed In Bud Worm Control

MISSOULA Plans sprayed 11,227 acres in the Bitterroot National Forest budworm control project on Thursday. Since Tuesday 28,000 acres have been sprayed as four planes operated and 13 more planned. Entomologists warn spraying must continue at about 15,000 acres daily to keep pace with the budworm, with spray loads of 150 and 1,200 gallons for Stearmans and B18s respectively.
