Flash Flood Wrecks Rail Bridge Near Great Falls
A flash flood Tuesday night washed away a 110-foot wooden bridge on the Great Northern line at Branahan, near Loma. Trains were halted with passengers mail and freight moved by bus and truck between Havre and Great Falls. one train narrowly cleared the destruction.

Pioneer printer Hallett Thurber dies at 89 in Helena
Hallett J. Thurber, 89, pioneer Montana printer and Thurber Printing founder in 1887, died after a long illness. He helped develop silver deposits in the Little Blackfoot area. Survived by a sister and a niece. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Northwest Veterans to Receive More Compensation
Helena report notes that thousands of Northwest veterans with service connected disabilities of 60 percent or more will gain increased compensation starting October 1 in the form of additional allowances for dependents. The VA says increases max at 91 dollars monthly for a 100 percent disabled veteran with a wife three or more children and two dependent parents, based on disability degree and number of dependents.
Bid Accepted for Court Chamber Lighting in Helena
The Montana examiners' board accepted a bid from Alle Hiveoric company in Helena to install Ngbbs in the state Supreme Court chambers and law library. The fourth lighting will cost 3,110 dollars and the law library lighting 1,804 dollars.

Condition of Accident Victims Improves After Weekend Crash
Six Bulle residents injured in Monday night automobile crash near Rowe road and Dewey Boulevard showed improved conditions by St. James Hospital late Wednesday. Maude Taylor 64 of 724 Colorado remained poor. Drivers Robert Marsenich 23 and George Mikel 87 were listed as fairly good. Tony Patrick and his two daughters in the overturned car on Woodville hills were reported good.

In Arkansas six persons were killed and nineteen injured when a transport truck and a van collided Wednesday on the highway near Frenchman’s Bayou.
