The verse depicts night fading as dawn approaches with a pale moon sinking in the west. A nightingale’s love song drifts on the breeze like a flag unfurled, while lullabies from distant shores echo in mystic lore before roses and aurora announce the day.
R. and Mrs. William Cook hosted a children's party at their home with games, contests, and music followed by luncheon. Guests included Captain Cook and many listed youths and neighbors. Mrs. Cook was helped by several ladies.
Dr. B. M. Winslow arrives with sisters Mrs. Annie Chase and Miss Sarah Winslow of New Bedford Mississippi to visit cousins Mrs. E. M. Winslow and sons Kenneth and Russell Winslow on State street. They will tour Yellowstone National Park before returning home.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Swanson, with Mrs. C. H. Mayo, left Monday by car for Portland for a several weeks visit. Mrs. Mayo plans to visit her daughter Mrs. Thad Greenland while the Swansons stay with Mrs. Charles Oleson, mother of Mrs. Swanson.
Mr and Mrs John H Gooch and children of Seattle are visiting Mr and Mrs William Dolan at 412 West Mercury for two weeks. They plan a tour of the south after the stay.
Mrs. Joseph E. Parker and her children Alice Marie and Joseph Jr. are enjoying a sojourn at Hunter's Springs, taking a relaxing retreat at the resort.
Miss Zula Warren left Sunday for Camp Tahepia in Georgetown to serve as assistant swimming instructor. She joins the camp staff to help teach swimming and support youth activities.
Mrs M Roach and daughter Katherine along with Mrs Kenneth Medthy and daughter Margaret prepare a two weeks camping trip to Highlands. They will be joined at the start of the week by Miss Helen Sullivan.
Henry McQuire a sailor from Great Falls was a guest of his sister Mrs Georges Fisher on South Dakota street. He left yesterday for Seattle to rejoin his ship the USS Tennessee.
Mr and Mrs John Barry of 911 Utah avenue welcome a daughter born Tuesday.
Mr and Mrs Earl Gilbert former Butte residents have lived in the Panama Canal zone for 17 years and now visit friends in the city returning to their old hometown for a stay.
Miss Dorothy Rogers hosted eight members of her sewing club for a luncheon on Tuesday at Gamer's following the menu. The group attended Rialto afterward.
The Gaineses hosted a buffet supper Tuesday at their West Silver home attended by 10 guests. A centerpiece of summer flowers and greenery complemented tapers and coordinated decor as the gathering followed earlier races at Marcus Daly park.
Miss Margaret Jackson recently wed Edward Shields. Miss Gisela Gramling hosted a miscellaneous shower at her home with music, conversation, and luncheon. Decorations featured wild roses blue blossoms and crepe bridal path. Centerpiece showed a bridal staircase with a doll in gown and pink rose corsage. Favors were dolls in pink gowns. pink princess tapers flanked the staircase.
A bustling Sunday afternoon gathering hosted by Mrs James Baldridge on Sheridan avenue celebrated her daughter Gloria six birthday. Guests including multiple children joined in games and music and a dainty luncheon followed a large cake trimmed with six burning tapers. Attendees listed include Gloria Baldridge Montana Linquist Wilda Baker Della Baker Clifford Timberlake Wanda Timberlake Gene LeBrun Walter LeBrun Harold Miller Donald Miller Doris Batchoff and other local youngsters.
Mr and Mrs L P Sanders with daughters Jean and Louise and son Wilbur Fiske Sanders depart for their summer lodge End O Kare on Flathead Lake to spend the season there.
Miss Ann McAuliffe arrives Thursday from Coronado California to spend several weeks with her sister Mrs. W M Walterskirchen. McAuliffe teaches at Coronado High School.
The city’s attractive young woman Marie Grefig departed during the week for New York to establish her new home. She attended many social affairs in her sendoff prior to departure.
Mrs. Ray J. McDonald hosted a prettily appointed luncheon at her country home by Nez Perce lake in honor of Miss Madeleine Moose of Los Angeles guest of her sister Mrs. A J Davis Jr. Wild flowers and pink decor graced the tables with 20 covers. After luncheon bridge followed.
The Manx society gathered Saturday evening at Mr and Mrs J R Crowleys South Gaylord home. After the business session plans were made for a picnic on August 4 at Pipestone Springs. Refreshments were served to the group including Mr and Mrs J E Bateman Mr and Mrs Moore Mrs Minnie Brew and others.

An afternoon luncheon hosted by Mrs. Rufus Johnson complemented her mother Mrs. D. F. Shearer. Guests included Mrs. Jean Nimmo of Helena visiting daughter Mrs. Harold Schwartz and Miss Ruth Lee of Burlington, Iowa visiting niece Mrs. Colin L. Christie. Sweetpeas and tapers set a pastel decorative theme and 10 covers were placed. After luncheon, bridge was played.
Mrs Nick Huber and daughter Miss May of Carbonada Washington arrived in the city for a visit with relatives and friends. Last week they were guests at the summer home of Mrs Huber's son near Buxton.
Miss Mary Lou Ruhile is visiting this summer at the Ray L. Ruhle summer home on Liberty Lake and is the relative of Miss Elizabeth Evans at Swan.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Secomb and Mr and Mrs Harry Tremberth departed for Los Angeles to visit friends and enjoy an extended trip together.
John Downey Dennis Cronin Walter Murphy James ONeil and Bill Bevan depart during the week for a Yellowstone park tour.
Mr and Mrs Otis Baxter motored to Deer Lodge Sunday to spend the day at the Joseph Coleman home.
A large gathering of women attended the weekly Ladies' Day at the Butte Country Club. Golf in the forenoon, then luncheon and cards. Hostesses were Mrs. William Meyer and Mrs. Henry Brindig. next week's hosts are Mrs. W. B. Pierce and Mrs. EB. F. Battson.
Mr and Mrs J G Cocking entertained Sunday evening for the Dalton Harrington wedding party. Summer flowers formed the central motif and candles lit the table. Nine covers were set. Out of town guests included Mrs J B Bishop and Misses Peggy Lou and Patricia Ann Bishop of Seattle.
A Wednesday evening dancing party hosted by Miss Catherine Coughlin at her home celebrated Miss Regey Cooney of Hollywood as guest of Byron E. Cooney. Ten guests enjoyed colorful summer flowers, dancing until midnight followed by a buffet luncheon.
The wedding of Miss Marie Emily Carlson and William A. Sharpe took place Wednesday afternoon at St. Mark's Lutheran parsonage with Rev. M. D. Huddroft officiating. Attendants were Mrs. Lucy Helander and Iver Hill. The couple will make their home in Butte.
Dr and Mrs Cline Smith of Clovis New Mexico were guests Wednesday of Mr and Mrs John H Smith on West Broadway. Dr Smith is a cousin of Mr Smith. Mr and Mrs Ernest Reugamer have returned from Manhattan where they were guests of friends for the past week.
Mrs J P Stephens of Great Falls is staying with Mrs A W Newman as a house guest on West Diamond Street.
Mr and Mrs Jack Thomas and their son travel with Mr and Mrs Richard Slater of Tacoma to Georgetown lake for a Sunday outing.
Miss Helen Rowe and Miss Isabel Kremer visited Bozeman during the week of Miss Margaret Dewey, sharing company and social engagements with local residents.
Dr and Mrs J H Thompson of Helena visited the city this week to attend the racing meet at Marcus Daly park.
Mrs Wallace Lee arrives from New Orleans to spend the summer with her mother Mrs Delores Chidest er on West Broadway.
RS. JOSEPH SPEARE and Miss Catherine Krants were honored at a miscellaneous shower Wednesday evening at 2121 Spruce. Pink and white flowers decorated the rooms. The event featured games and music followed by a buffet luncheon. Mrs Harold Ball and Miss Ada Krantz served. Mrs Speare received a "Love Ship" filled with gifts. About 50 guests attended.

Smith and daughter Evelyn and Marabeth and Bobby Blake.
Mr and Mrs H G Gregory formerly of Butte announce the marriage of their daughter Beatrice Gregory to J L McGrew. The ceremony is set for July 10 in Los Angeles. Beatrice is a popular Butte young woman and McGrew has lived in Los Angeles for years. The couple’s friends extend hearty congratulations.
Mr and Mrs Daniel Hanley of Lewistown travel with their son Paul Hanley of New York and grandson Robert to the West Diamond residence of Mr and Mrs John R Bartlett for a family visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bleick departed for Portland for a two week vacation, leaving home secure during their trip.

The Ladies' Aid society of the Mission church met at Miss Skoglund's home on Illinois Tuesday evening. They completed plans for the next meeting set for the third Tuesday in August at Columbia Gardens. A delightful program was presented and refreshments were served with seating for 25.
