Butte girl drowns in school swimming plunge
Jeannie St Pierre, 10, drowned in the Butte High School pool during a public swim event Tuesday night. Lifeguards Lynn Garvey and Dean Martin found her at the bottom. resuscitation attempts failed. The pool will be closed until further notice. Jeannie was a Monroe School fifth grader and Sacred Heart Church member. Survivors include her parents Clyde and Mrs St Pierre and siblings. Funeral plans pending.

Anaconda Resident Dave Reese 79 Dies in Hospital
Dave Reese 79 of the Winthrop apartments in Anaconda died Thursday morning at St. Ann Hospital after four years of ill health. Born May 3 1887 in Llandeilo South Wales he immigrated to the United States as a youth. He lived in Pittsburgh and Portland before moving to Anaconda in 1914. Retired in 1957 after 43 years at the Anaconda Reduction works he was a Presbyterian, Acacia Lodge No 33 AF and AM member and former Bricklayers union member. Survived by wife Christina two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at 11 am at Fischer Funeral Chapel with burial Sunset Memorial Gardens and Masonic graveside rites by Acacia Lodge.
