Survivor details eight nurses killed by Chicago killer

The sole survivor Corazon Amarao, a 23 year old Filipino exchange student, recounted that the eight nurses debated whether to fight or appease the killer Richard Speck as he attacked them in their town house. The consul general said Amarao described the discussions and the plan to stay quiet fearing “something crazy.” The survivor was brought face to face with Speck but the meeting was canceled for medical reasons.

Billings Driver Killed in Cooke City Crash

In Yellowstone Park near Cooke City Mark Fasich 55 of Billings died from injuries after a highway crash about ten miles west of Cooke City Coroner said he died on arrival at Lake Hospital. His two passengers Jean Baker 21 and Diane Zimmerman 22 from Mandola Illinois were hospitalized with injuries Baker fractured pelvis and ribs Zimmerman suffered abrasions and shock.

Bozeman man named to Cannon's post

F. G. Fisher of Bozeman was appointed by the Montana Railroad Commission to the $7,500 a year post as supervisor of motor carriers. The job, vacated after Lt. Gov. Paul Cannon was removed, will begin July 25. Fisher previously owned Three Forks Transfer & Storage Co. and has been active in transportation.

Community Pioneer Margaret Keyes to Be Buried in Butte

Services for Margaret D. Keyes 82, a Timberline pioneer and former Basin and Butte businesswoman, will be held Wednesday at Sayatovic-White's Funeral Home and St. Ann Church. She died Sunday night after hospitalization since June 9. Interment is in Holy Cross Cemetery. Keyes was the first white child born in Timberline and the last surviving child of Mountain and Indian Wars veteran Dennis Driscoll. She worked in the circulation department of the old Anaconda Standard from 1920 to 1931, later owned part of Basin’s Butte Tourist Park, and retired in 1964. Surviving: two sons Earl R. and James V. Keyes. multiple grandchildren and great‑grandchildren. Her husband Frank Keyes died in 1932.
