Senator Borah Republican of Idaho proposed the Senate join the House in overriding President Roosevelt's veto of low interest rates on federal farm loans. He said action may come when the Senate reconvenes Tuesday and warned farmers risk returning to higher rates.
A large fire destroyed four homes of Mr. and Mrs. George Flanders and three other family members at 2407 Locust street in Butte. Chickens in a poultry shed perished as flames rose high. Neighbors sprayed wells and paint blistered on nearby buildings. No one was home when the fire started. cause undetermined. Traffic clogged streets within minutes of discovery. All outbuildings at the rear were razed.
Premier Camille Chautemps outlined a three year plan to lift France from economic woes. He aims to boost production and erase the 1937 treasury deficit of 36.107 billion francs by 1940, while extending the 40 hour work week to all workers and reducing working hours. Missoula business man W. T. Marsh was brought to a hospital with a broken leg and multiple bruises after his car rolled 400 feet down a hillside from Skalkaho highway Saturday night. Passenger Mrs. Laura Winkler suffered head injuries and alerted others from the roadside. Marsh was trapped under the vehicle overnight until help arrived around 5 am.
The U S Army announces a new five seat all metal twin motor sub stratosphere fighter to be tested at Bell Aircraft Buffalo New York. It is a pushing monoplane designed for altitudes to 30000 feet with six machine guns and light bombs.
Department of Agriculture economists project 1937 cash income for farmers around 9.5 billion dollars, up about 1.5 billion from 1936 and more than double 1932.
