A&P report says one kidnapping victim was returned to family as another remained captive. Police opened a search for a third abduction, arresting two suspects. August Luer of Alton Illinois, 77, freed after 124 hours. Relatives of John J. O Connell Jr of Albany NY stay hopeful amid ongoing investigation.
A blazing Wild Springs creek forest fire swept through over 200 acres of heavy timber in the Hidden Lake area of the Deer Lodge national forest. Despite 100 camp youths efforts and a rain shower, the blaze continued with four CCC units plus 60 extra men rushed from Butte to assist. Supervisor R T Ferguson led rangers and a Basin camp lieutenant in nighttime efforts.
Wiley Post, the American world flyer, left Koenig sberg Germany at 6 45 am after 12 hours grounded by bad weather. He aimed for Moscow on his third lap following reports of favorable Russia conditions. He flew from New York to Berlin in record time and landed at 6 40 pm yesterday before resuming his round-the-world flight to regain lost time.
President Roosevelt via executive order brings rayon weaving plants silk mills cotton thread and throwings under the 40 hour week and $12 to $13 minimum wage. About 600000 to 700000 workers see immediate pay raises as steel and other plants also file wake boosting agreements. No blanket code order yet but a nationwide recovery drive and voluntary industry pacts are urged with possible public appeals and regional campaigns.
August Luer, a 77 year old banker, told reporters before his return to Alton how kidnappers seized him in Collinsville and held him for four days in a damp dungeon. He described being dragged from his home with a tape over his eyes and threats during the captivity.
Jack Berry 13, Anaconda Boy Scout, was fatally injured when he fell from a trailer and was run over while traveling with two companions to Echo Lake. The incident occurred about a mile and a half west of Anaconda. Continued on page 2.

James Doyle 13, of Timber Butte near Butte, was instantly killed by a lightning bolt as he switched on a kitchen light during a violent storm at 8 30 last night. His mother and three sisters witnessed the tragedy as the body was hurled across the room. He attended St John’s parochial school and had just bought ice cream from a Harrison avenue stand.
Federal regulations issued to curb excess oil production and prevent interstate shipment of petroleum produced against state orders. Issued under the Industrial Recovery Act and an executive order by Roosevelt, the rules require monthly reports to the Interior Department and sworn affidavits for shipments.

The 40th annual Montana state trapshooting tournament at the Butte Gun club near Rocker concluded after three sunny days. Nearly 100 entrants from five states competed for the largest prize list in state history, with eight state titles awarded including four new champions and five decided on the final day.
