George Madison Knapp aged 97, early West resident and Indian wars scout, died last evening at his Argenta home after years of ill health. Born in Watertown New York he crossed to the West at 17, lived in Kansas and Wyoming before settling in Argenta Montana in 1885 to mine. Surviving are his widow Rebekah, five daughters Addie Leonard Bertha Shaffer Lulu McDonald Sarah Ledebur Carrie Spafard, three sons Ernest Sidney John A. Knapp, 33 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are with Merrill mortuary.
