Mau rice A Harmon resigned Monday from his $18 500 a year job as director of the Montana Department of Public Institutions. He will become commissioner of Kentucky Division of Child Welfare in August. He praised Montana progress and said he leaves with best wishes. Sanddal also resigned as Boulder State Training School head. board accepted both notices. Harmon, 49, had been in Montana 14 months since May 1964.

An EC121H radar plane from Otis Air Force Base crashes 85 miles northeast of Nantucket during a night patrol. Nine crewmen die, seven remain missing, three survivors rescued aboard a West German destroyer, and a multinational search with U S and NATO ships continues as bodies are moved to the Wasp for transport to Chelsea Massachusetts.

US Planes Hit North Vietnamese Ammunition Depots

Grinning gunman killed after bank shooting in Dallas
Cecil Francis Abbey, 38, of Eugene Oregon, opened fire inside the Texas Bank and Trust Co lobby, killing one guard and wounding another. Abbey was fatally shot outside the vault after a confrontation with bank staff and the vault door. Guards W A Johnson and George Cox were in critical condition. Witnesses recalled Abbey grinning and asking if everyone was happy as the ordeal unfolded.

Grader Crash Kills Geraldine Man Boling
Geraldine AP John Francis Boling about 32 died when a county road grader he drove missed a curve on a county road 82 miles. Boling, working for Chateau County, was thrown from the cab and pinned beneath the grader as three witnesses arrived. His death raised the state road toll to 131. He is survived by a sister and his mother in Rapid City, South Dakota.
