ARCO BP Say Unlined Waste Site Would Drain to Berkeley Pit
Atlantic Richfield BP argues a proposed waste repository near the Kelley Mine Area would not need a synthetic liner because all surface and groundwater there, including water from underground tunnels, drains into the Berkeley Pit. The waste acceptance criteria would follow regulations and the Butte Mine Waste Repository standards, with stormwater entering the Berkeley Pit.

Butte Motorcyclist Pondered Amputation After Collision
Stephen Bradford, 28, headed north on Harrison Avenue in Butte on a Kawasaki when his bike collided with a Ford Ranger crossing Harrison. He was treated at St James Hospital then flown to St Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings. Driver Patrick Burke, 58, of Butte, was booked on DUI second offense. Police say speed and alcohol were involved and the case remains under investigation. Bradford spoke by phone from his Billings hospital bed.

Court rules Flathead forest plan again violates ESA over roads
In a 49 page order Judge Dana Christensen found the Forest Service and Fish and Wildlife Service still violate the Endangered Species Act with revised road closures density and culvert removal analysis. Swan View Coalition chair Keith Hammer said the ruling returns the agencies to the drawing board.
