Two-Day Traffic Toll Rises to 130 in State
A pair of head on and single car crashes over two days killed four people and pushed the state highway death toll to 130, up 31 from a year ago. Mrs. Verda Mickerson of Idaho Falls, 59, died instantly Monday near Hamilton on Highway 93 when her car collided with a cross country truck and trailer. Sheriff Raymond said she may have suffered a heart attack or fallen asleep at the wheel. The truck driver, Roscoe McMullin, also of Idaho Falls, pulled over and slowed to ten miles an hour. the freight driver was uninjured while the express driver slept in the sleeper compartment and sustained minor injuries. Mrs. Mickerson planned a visit to her two sons, Donald and Seth, in Stevensville. Her husband and another son had been killed previously.

Death Penalty For Dope Peddlers Passed by Congress
Congress approved a bill stiffening narcotics penalties and allowing juries to recommend the death penalty for anyone who sells or gives heroin to minors under 18. The measure, now to Eisenhower for signature, also raises sentences for narcotics offenses and bans illicit drug traffic by phone or mail. It requires surrender of heroin holdings to the Treasury within 120 days and broadens search and deportation powers.

Five injured in two car crash near Melrose
Five people were injured in a two car collision about three miles south of Melrose on U S 91 Sunday. William Wragg, 56, of Los Angeles, died at the scene. University Building Fees Set for All Montana Units
Montana University systems will charge building fees starting next fall.
