London July 6 The president’s statement clarifies policy aims but fails to offer practical proposals for the disarmingly stalled conference. With 3,000 delegates and global press, adjournment now seems wise as the dollar remains unstabilized and gold countries resist reforms, making substantive discussion impossible.
London dispatch reports powerful forces push Britain toward full participation in the American inflation plan as the world economic conference nears a crucial debate in the House of Commons. Sir Robert Horne may deliver a keynote speech praising U S recovery and inviting Britain to join the effort.
Encampment Wyo July 8 With the discovery of a half ounce gold nugget excitement rises. Casper men W J Clark and N M Jensen found the nugget on their placer claim on Cherokee creek five miles from Encampment. They report averaging three ounces daily over four days. Nearby miners report color from placer operations.
In Washington D C on July 8 Mrs Garner the wife of the vice president worries about wearing the same hat too long as she and Vice President Garner prepare to depart for Texas. A photographer tailing them asks for a shot but she refuses noting the outfit was photographed last December.
The Montana beer trade, though young, shows potential to boost municipal revenues and vendor profits. In its first months it has generated about 170000 for the state, possibly 20000 for the federal government, and 22966 for eight cities, with total city and village collections near 80000.
A cloudburst drenched the Madison valley shortly after 1 PM washing out hundreds of acres of alfalfa and several small bridges on side roads. The main highway remained passable except where streams crossed it. In Kansas City on July 8 two people died when a female aviator leaped from her aircraft after her parachute failed. Mildred Wright, a Warrensburg State Teacher’s College instructor, and John A. Moss perished. Don Covington, Moss’s friend, also jumped in to aid but survived.
A rumor via unofficial channels claimed John Factor known as Jake the Barber was among three men arrested near Alice, 40 miles west of Corpus Christi. Sheriff Price had no information and Highway Lieut. Miller questioned the report, noting he had only secondhand tips from a Rio Grande valley newspaperman. The arrested men were said to be en route to Corpus Christi, but no names or officers were provided.
Silver Bow county records show 52 deaths investigated from January to June under Coroner Don Murphy. Inquests reached 33, with 29 natural causes, four accidental gunshot wounds, two self inflicted gunshot cases, and other deaths including poison, burns, auto accidents, homicide, monoxide, drowning, mine accident, and crushing incidents.
Berlin July 8. Pranz Ebert eldest son of the first president of the German republic was arrested today after a long search of his apartments and sent to a concentration camp.
The Ways and Means committee recommends closing Calendonia and Harrison Avenue stations or keeping Quartz Street open and closing Arizona Street. It also suggests laying off about 10 police officers to balance the budget. With only $14,290.58 in the general fund at July start and June receipts of $24,000, the city must cut to stay within income.
Governor Frank H. Cooney announced in Mis soula that the Fort Peck dam on the Missouri river near Glasgow will be built as a major public works project. The $65,000,000 flood control project would employ about 5,000 men for three years and has state backing across Missouri and Mississippi river states.

Helena July 8. Beer wholesalers with licenses who supply a bottle opener for patrons to use on the premises violate the Montana beer act. Prosecution may revoke licenses or pursue criminal action per instructions from Attorney General R. T. Nagle to County Attorney H. H. Hullinger of Pondera county. Statewide complaints have been received, with a flagrant case in Pondera.
Seven nations France Italy Belgium Holland Switzerland Poland and Czechoslovakia met in Paris to form an alliance defending the gold standard against the United States and other inflationary nations. A counter bloc of roughly 25 nations was anticipated led by the United States Great Britain Japan and others as a response to the currency dispute with far reaching global economic implications.
