In Bucharest authorities report a royalist conspiracy aimed at placing exiled Prince Carol on the throne as Prince Michael governs. Up to 200 arrests, mostly army officers, followed word of the putsch plans, with former War Minister Paul Angelescu named as alleged plot leader. The government acted just before the scheduled coup hour.
An airplane number 4498 was found crashed 24 miles east of Park City Utah. The pilot and one passenger are dead. Salt Lake City airport officials and the sheriff are identifying the plane and occupants.
