Avalanche claims French ski champion among 14 killed
A freak summer avalanche near Chamonix swept 14 climbers to death including world ski champion Charles Bozon. The group of French instructors and trainee guides was struck at about 9000 feet on the Aiguille Verte near Mer de Glace. The disaster marks a second Alpine avalanche fatality this year.
