About 40 demonstrators representing several protest groups conducted a mock funeral for a slain Vietnamese hijacker outside the Democratic Convention site in Miami Beach. U S aircraft accidentally bombed a South Vietnamese marine unit on the northern front counteroffensive northeast of Quang Tri City. Initial reports say 11 marines were killed and 25 wounded with the incident under investigation. The marines are part of a 20 000 strong South Vietnamese task force trying to retake territory lost in Quang Tri Province.
