Los Angeles miner B D Harris sues four Oklahoma defendants over alleged misconduct and conspiracy to secure an affair with his wife. Defendants include Wells and Roberts owners of Wells Roberts hotel Matt Doyle of Tulsa Country Club and P G Walker Tulsa insurance man. Harris claims conspiracy to arrange liaison with Mrs Harris.
Montana dominates national gem output with half of the production. Its leading sapphire mine has yielded gems worth 12 million dollars since it began operations in 1898.
Twenty Grand, the 93-year-old champion owned by Mrs. Payne Whitney, won the Dwyer stakes at Aqueduct by a length and a half over Belair Stud's Blenheim in a slow 2 34 2 5, earning $11,500. Barometer, owned by E. R. Bradley, finished third.

Cecil Beckley, 40, shot and killed his wife Alma Beckley, 40, and her 16-year-old daughter Margaret Clutter near Dixonville Oregon, then fled to a Swan Lake cabin and attempted suicide. A 10-page confession was found in his coat, guiding police to the victims.
Fine rain fell in northeastern Montana and Dakota, with Minot reporting up to 2.12 inches of precipitation. The drought stricken northwestern area of North Dakota received its heaviest rain of the year as showers extended into the northeast, aiding dry conditions.
Lou Moore of Los Angeles won the 100 mile Fourth of July car race at Altoona speedway. He finished one mile ahead of Jimmy Gleason of Philadelphia and two miles ahead of Wilbur Shaw of Indianapolis. Moore averaged 108.7 mph with a time of 53 minutes 10 seconds.
Ten small sailing craft left Newport at 1 PM bound for Plymouth England in a transatlantic race regarded as the smallest ever in the perilous northern crossing. Eight are American owned and two English entries. One German entry named Storekeeper did not enter after delaying at Vigo due to heavy seas.
In Peru Indiana a veteran airplane pilot and his youthful companion died when their aircraft crashed. The men were identified as the pilot and his passenger, both losing their lives in the mid afternoon accident near the air strip. A brief investigation followed to determine the cause of the crash.
America's 155th Fourth of July sees Butte residents flocking to mountain streams lakes and cabins for two days of recreation. Flags adorn homes and businesses as thousands hit highways in sunshine and cool breezes. Fireworks echo as families enjoy outdoor sports and leisure across the hills and valleys surrounding the city.
CHICAGO July 4 Plucky play mounted by Jockey D Trivett and packing only 105 pounds raced to victory in the $20,000 added Stars and Stripes handicap at Arlington track today. Mike Hall and The Nut were second and third.
Latonia Kentucky July 4 Manta B Combs filly won the Independence handicap over one mile and one sixteenth in two minutes flat. She led Royal Julian by a length and a half with Oswego third, six lengths back. The race carried a $10 000 purse.
A twelve woman jury in Los Angeles ruled that W. J. Weiss, 67, is the father of Sally, 11 months old, born to Mary Chang, 25, a Chinese woman. Judge Gates ordered Weiss to pay $20 monthly support. Henry Chang, Mary’s husband, was awarded $500 for alleged betrayal. Chang sought $100,000.
Seattle July 4 Reg L Robbins and H B Jones mark time awaiting their refueling ship in Alaska before dawn tomorrow. They plan a nonstop flight from Seattle to Tokyo, aided by midair refueling.
Philadelphia beat Boston 5 to 2 while Boston tied at 4 4 with Brooklyn. Brooklyn fell to New York 4 5 to 44 and Cincinnati lost to St Louis 0 to 6 in 11 and 12 inning twin bill. Sunday's games include New York at Brooklyn and Philadelphia at Boston with St Louis at Chicago and Pittsburgh at Chicago.
