Three Butte residents were hired Thursday by the Butte Model Cities Demonstration Agency to fill staff positions. Milton Zeigler becomes staff accountant with $750 monthly pay. Thomas E. Plane crash near Holter Lake kills two Great Falls men
A light plane chartered by Montana Power Co. crashed about 10 miles east of Holter Lake in Lewis and Clark County, killing Thomas Mongar aged 56 and Art Higgins aged 60, with pilot Jerry Carter 27 in critical condition. Higgins had 40 years with Montana Power. Mongar had recent residence in Great Falls after living in Thompson Falls.

Montana Power Co official Dick Shevalier said the cause of a Wednesday night blackout that left Helena and surrounding areas in darkness for about 20 minutes was not known. He guesses a lightning strike on a major line between Great Falls and East Helena caused the outage.
