A mother Fern Steffes 32 a daughter Marlene 14 and Steffes mother Iva McNinch 59 suffered severe injuries in a rollover on a highway about 20 miles south of Butte. Steffes skull fracture brain injury and broken shoulder. Marlene bas al skull fracture. all were passengers in a 1949 Mercury. Driver Fred Lyons and passenger Anne Graham were identified. Other injuries reported include a Butte man and a Walkerville boy under observation after separate incidents.

Holiday Death Toll Soaring Across Independence Day Weekend

Flying Banana Streaks Over Montana
A midnight flight of a banana shaped object over Montana was reported by CAA Air Force and airline officials. Headstone Traps Man In Maysville Yard Accident
A passerby heard screams from the Maysville monument works yard Saturday night. Police traced the source to Raymond Applegate, 22, after a 1,000 pound gravestone toppled and trapped his left leg. He was freed and hospitalized with a broken leg.

Butte Fourth of July Fish Derby Draws 2000 Kids
More than two thousand Butte area youths will gather at Bell Creek Monday morning for the annual fish derby a highlight of Fourth of July and Homecoming Week. Merchants and groups contributed about 300 prizes including fishing outfits for the largest fish.
