Governor Roy E Ayers told All-Montana day crowds that Montana closed the year June 30 with a debt reduction of over 750000 and cut the general fund overdraft by 100000. Master Mariner Fred Noonan Builds Bridge From Sea to Sky
Fred Noonan 44, veteran navigator and master mariner, rose from Atlantic and Pacific square riggers to the airline age. He logged twenty two years at sea, had three ships torpedoed in world war, and later taught aerial navigation for transport firms. Noonan, who came to Oakland in 1935, guided the first ships on the Oakland Honolulu Clipper route before resigning, and he joined in sea rescues. He married Mary Marginella of Oakland last March.
