Morrison Jurors Still Undecided After Deliberation
A 33 hour juror deadlock in the Walter Morrison murder case ended last night with the panel unagreed on a verdict. Morrison, a 54 year old Butte police detective, is charged with fatally shooting William Douglass, 23, in a soft drink parlor a year ago. If no agreement by late afternoon, jurors likely to be discharged. more than 40 ballots were cast before dinner. The trial began Monday afternoon after fourteen witnesses for the state and Morrison as sole defense witness. This closed the spring criminal court calendar started May 5.
