Treasury reports largest tax take since 1921
The treasury closed the books on the past fiscal year showing a tax intake of 5.264 billion dollars through June 28, the highest since 1921. Daily cash inflow averaged 14.5 million since last July 1, and total spending reached 8.055 billion by June 28, below last year’s outlay. Estimates were exceeded on both income and outlays, with two days of June remaining to adjust figures.

Hilmer Anderson of Couer d Alene Idaho escaped injury after forcing a landing three miles west of Butte when the engine failed. He landed in a rock pile south of the Anaconda highway, destroying the landing gear while the plane sustained other damage. He and Russell Molyneux of Sandpoint Idaho had left the Butte airport earlier in a companion ship en route to Alliance Ohio factory with two new Taylor craft. The wrecked ship will be repaired after parts arrive from the factory.
