The Hunter brothers John and Kenneth, flying their plane through debris filled air, logged 462 hours in flight and 169 refuel contacts by 9:15 p.m. CST as they push to continue through the night toward dawn. The report notes ongoing dangers from debris in wires affecting the rudder and stabilizer.
Chicago June 30. Grover Dullard, suspected of complicity in the slaying of Alfred Jake Lingle, was arrested with nine companions by detectives from the state's attorney office who raided two Moran gathering places. Dullard had ties to the Sheridan Wave gambling resort where Lingle and others were said to be interested. he was noted at the Hotel Sherman when Lingle entered and may have trailed him.
A sudden and unannounced strike by the Teamsters union disrupted delivery systems in Butte yesterday morning. Majority of drivers quit, halting perishable goods, ice, and wholesale food movements. Some quit on call, others at noon or end of shift, leaving many employers without notice. Negotiations had been previously proposed by the Silver Bow Employers' association, but no formal strike notice was given.

Washington June 30 United Press A decade of prohibition enforcement ends as Congress transfers the prohibition bureau from the treasury to the justice department. Attorney General Mitchell will command 2 700 agents and staff, fulfilling President Hoover’s pledge and shaping a new major effort to establish a dry nation.
A Butte jury after more than eight hours of deliberation failed to reach a verdict against Walter Morrison a detective charged with murder. The case involves the killing of William Douglass a 23 year old salesman at a North Main street soft drink parlor last year. Unofficial reports indicate over twenty ballots were asked but no result disclosed.
The Montana Taxpayers association bulletin reports that Montana collected 27 042 417 in taxes for 1929, up 2 215 681 from 1928. It details how 75 000 daily tax receipts are distributed to universities and state government, cities, counties, and schools, and notes per capita taxes rising from 7.71 to 50.73 since 1870.
Six year old Drew Kenworthy, son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Kenworthy, drowned in the Hansen irrigation canal in Dillon. He had been missing since 11 am and was found at 3 pm. He leaves behind his parents and an infant brother.

Secret service agents captured four men and one woman after internal quarrels among members of an alleged counterfeit gang broke the group apart. They admitted passing more than 150,000 counterfeit twenty dollar bills since April, with authorities estimating total phony proceeds over 300,000 dollars.
The Pacific Northwest Medical association begins its eighth annual conference at the New Finlen in Butte with an eight 8:15 am start for a three day program. Leading physicians from Montana the Pacific Coast Idaho and eastern regions attend as major lectures from Rockefeller Institute Mayo Clinic Johns Hopkins Stanford and other institutions form a post graduate course for doctors. Over 300 registrants were welcomed yesterday and last night as enrollment clerks processed attendees.
Major Maurice Campbell, longtime prohibition administrator for New York, announced support for repealing the Eighteenth Amendment as he prepared to retire. He will be succeeded by Andrew McCampbell, in a final statement criticizing treasury officials he says failed to act.
Judge Frank H. Padden presides in police court and grants farm relief to Oscar Schmidt of Prairie du Chien Wisconsin who faced sentencing for speeding. Schmidt notes wheat price at 60 cents a bushel. the judge replies that they need farm relief and releases him.
Pioneer Montana physician Dr. John W. Gunn received a life member award from the Montana State Medical Association at yesterday’s meeting. He and Dr. T. J. Murray helped found the Murray hospital. Gunn is currently in Boise, Idaho with his son-in-law Dr. H. C. Jones.
Dr. LeRoy Southmayd of Great Falls, a Montana native and 1892 University of Michigan medical graduate, was installed as president of the Montana State Medical Association. J H Garberson of Miles City was named president for 1931 32 and other officers were elected across Butte Billings Havre and Lewistown The next meeting is set for Bozeman July 19 1931.
A letter delayed since January 10 due to a wrecked mail plane arrived in Butte. It was received by John Rankin of the Fox Theater company and notes the fate of Western Air Express pilot Maurice Graham who was lost in a Utah blizzard after landing his plane.
President said public works contracts in the first half of 1930 surpassed 1929 boom levels by more than 200 million dollars. He spoke at a governors conference in Lake City Utah praising cooperation after the stock lapse last fall and urged organized, anticipatory planning to ease unemployment through timely public activity.
A Sunday night automobile crash near Grand Lake village left nine people in serious condition. In the car were teachers and students from Butte including Martha McNichols Crotty and Miss Davis who sustained cuts and bruises.
Los Angeles June 30 The state pressed for a first degree murder verdict against Otto Sanhuber known as the attic man after his damaging admissions. Prosecutor George epuly Costello highlighted Sanhuber’s earlier false statement about owning a revolver and pressed the gun detail as the case nears completion. Sanhuber’s attorney Wakeman argued the defendant was driven by powerful impulses while living in the attic.
