In Helena on January 29, the senate banks and banking committee announced six measures ready for introduction. Proposals include punishing attacks on banks with up to 5000 dollars fine or five years in prison, and setting a minimum 30 year sentence for armed robbery.
Walter E. Case, missing Varney Airlines pilot, was reported by Camas traces to have been removed from a wreck on Bluff mountain 16 miles from Washougal. Rescue workers lowered to the 200 foot cliff to reach the plane. mail and Case's body were to be brought out soon.
Anaconda mayor says a bill to consolidate Anaconda with Deer Lodge county is being drafted by City Attorney P C Malee. The plan aims for action by Deer Lodge representatives by Monday and a municipal voter decision on April 7. Mayor Carvel cites potential yearly savings of at least 20000 dollars.

A man robbed City National Bank on O'Farrell Street near Market in San Francisco today, stealing $3,000 after handing a teller a note that said Let’s have the money or I’ll blow your head off. No injuries reported. Police searched the area for the suspect.
Twenty demonstrators were wounded when police fired on railway clerks and other workers protesting wage cuts in Bucharest. The clash followed demonstrations by railway employees against salary reductions.
