Four slain at country estate include wife of surgeon
Four people were found slain Tuesday at a luxurious Middlesex County estate in New Jersey. Edith Clarke, wife of St Peter's Hospital chief surgeon, was bound and shot along with two maids. Stampede at Seoul Station Kills 31 Koreans
A human stampede at a Seoul railway station on Lunar New Year eve killed 31 Koreans, including 11 children, and injured 49 as travelers crowded toward a platform. A large snowslide about 20 feet deep closed U S Highway 2 along Glacier National Park's southern edge, halting east west traffic overnight. World's Largest Balloon Lands After Eight Hours Afloat
The giant helium balloon, nearly as tall as a 50 story building, landed eight hours after launch aboard a U.S. carrier. Navy radio ordered its descent as winds carried it 20 miles above earth south of Barbados toward Trinidad. A 2,500 pound payload containing cosmic ray photos was parachuted into the sea for recovery by a destroyer.
