Flax seed output urged to aid farmers and cut imports
Dr H L Walster of the University of North Dakota urged greatly increasing domestic flax seed production to boost farm income and offset heavy duty free imports. He said domestic output could reach about three fourths of national needs, with tariffs still providing price support, and cited drought last year as the cause of low production. He warned against perfila oil imports from Japan, which harm flax crushers by limiting their normal oil outlet.

Fire damages private garage on West Quartz Street
Fire destroyed the interior of a private garage at 618 West Quartz Street at 8:25 yesterday morning. A car inside was saved from serious damage as Butte firefighters fought the blaze for 50 minutes. The property owner was identified as Mrs. Mary Gleason.

Veteran Teacher at Boulder Deaf and Blind School Dies
Helena Jan 26 Miss Florence Lovell a teacher at the State School for the Deaf and Blind at Boulder for over 20 years died Saturday night at the Montana Vocational School for Girls. She apparently died peacefully in her sleep, said Howard Griffin president of the deaf and blind school. Her death was discovered when attendants at the vocational school went to call her for breakfast. An elderly woman with unknown exact age she leaves no known relatives.
