Nicaraguan President Anastasio Somoza announced he would abolish the border neutral zone with Costa Rica to ease tensions after an OAS peace mission. He warned of mobilizing about 500 troops along the border and said he would act only if blood is shed.
More than 100 delegates from 40 Montana counties gathered for the Montana Division of the American Cancer Society three day conclave at the Hotel Finlen. Discussion centered on spring campaign goals for education service and research with a final dollar target to be announced after the division executive board meets. Delegates noted last year’s drive surpassed the national goal by 16009 and raised 117000.
Mrs Harry Spitzer a 40 year old mother of five was named Polio Mother of the Year by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. Stricken in 1951 she continued her homemaker role from a wheelchair and lives in Glenview Illinois a suburb of Chicago.
