Col Vladimir Hurban Czech minister to the United States protested Senator Burton Wheeler's peace proposal he called a plan to hand over forty million Czecho-Slovakians and Poles to the Nazis. He urged that the plan would be a crime against humanitarian values and civilization. He accused Wheeler of advocating a settlement that would restore Germany to its 1914 boundaries in Poland.
December postal receipts totaled 95,704,578 dollars, rising by over 6 million and 7.16 percent from 1939. For July to December the six month total reached 408,821,100 dollars, up more than 21 million and 5.68 percent year over year, according to Postmaster General Frank C. Walker.
