The Senate Finance Committee tentatively approved the central portion of a large tax cut bill, slashing federal income tax rates for most Americans. Union Rejects Anaconda Reinstatement Offer in Falls
In Great Falls 14 terminated workers were offered full reinstatement by Anaconda Co after a Jan. 15 stoppage. The Mine, Mill and Smeltermen Union rejected the offer, voting to return to negotiations. The dispute idled about 1,300 workers in Great Falls with possible wider effects. Mooney noted the union reduced wage demands from 35 to 18.87 per shift for 22 men in the bargaining mix.
