Two Women Hurt In Icy Butte Anaconda Collision
Two Portland sisters Mrs. Robert Skeen and Mrs. I K Davis were injured in an auto crash on an icy stretch of the Butte Anaconda highway near Rocker. Skeen suffered multiple pelvic fractures rib fractures and possible internal injuries while Davis is described as in serious condition. The pair had come to attend funeral services for the late Margaret LeClaire of Anaconda.

Fire engulfs Keith theater area in Philadelphia five alarm blaze
A five alarm fire in downtown Philadelphia forced evacuation of 1200 people from the Keith theater after flames spread from Crawford furrier shop at 110 Chestnut Street. Two workers were injured. firefighters battled subfreezing conditions as several nearby stores filled with smoke and the rear of the theater was damaged. Stores remained open late as responders fought the blaze.

Police plan to show Sheldon to Miss Devine for identification. In San Francisco Earl Sheldon aka John Wesley Lucas, an ex convict, denied involvement and said he has 30 witnesses to prove it. Edward Blye, 76, accused of second degree murder in Pearl Mattix death near Springdale, was ruled insane by a district court jury after three hours of deliberation. Judge B E Berg remanded Blye to Sheriff Swan Olson for transfer to the state hospital at Warm Springs. Mattix died from a gunshot wound in a cabin near Springdale.

Four High School Students Die In School Fire Blast
In Monroe City Missouri a welding class explosion in a one room mechanical arts building killed four students and left seven others burned including a teacher Roy Lyster who was injured while attempting to rescue a victim. The deceased were Donald McElroy Edward Cannon Noble Engle and another boy identified as Young Hendricks died at Hannibal hospital. Lyster suffered burns to his hands as he tried to save pupils.

Police Kill Man in Gun Battle Near St Louis
Laurel J. Paulson 29 from Omaha was killed by state patrolmen after an eight mile 30 minute gun battle west of St Louis. He and his wife Dolores aged 19 fled a traffic stop, were cornered at a small airport, and Paulson sped off despite a volley of bullets. He had been sought on theft burglary charges in Iowa Nebraska.
