A temporary connection linking Interstate 90 with Continental Drive near the Butte Country Club was opened Friday. Drivers eastbound must stop to turn onto Continental Drive while westbound traffic continues without stopping. Completion of the Butte to Whitehall Interstate 90 segment is expected in late fall.

Libby man seeks chairmanship of State GOP
Gerald T. Neils of Libby announced he will seek the chairmanship of the Montana State Republican Party at the Billings meeting March 25-26. Neils, 39, is the current Lincoln County GOP chairman and would succeed Melvin Engles of Helena, who has led the party for six years. He attended Idaho State University and the University of Montana, served in the Navy 1944 to 1946, worked at J Neils Lumber Co, then cattle ranching before turning to investments. He accompanied Montana’s delegation to the 1964 GOP national convention in San Francisco.
