An Army barrage balloon exploded at its mooring in Vallejo California on January 21 causing a wooden barracks to shatter and ignite. The blast destroyed at least ten war workers houses, left 17 injured and one dead identified as Richard S. Cail of Eaton Ohio.

Tank Car Gasoline Deliveries To East Coast Banned
