Washington dinners and receptions unfold as dignitaries and governors gather for Lyndon B. Johnson's inauguration. Johnson mingles, shakes hands, and chats with state executives at a Sheraton Park Hotel reception before returning to the White House.
Washington echoes with ceremonies and receptions as President elect Johnson and Vice President elect Humphrey lead a flurry of social events. Governors, civic leaders, and thousands attend memorials, parades, and a star studded inaugural concert while security tightens with Police, Secret Service, and marshals deployed across the capital.
Partly cloudy conditions prevail with minimal temperature changes through Thursday. Butte highs near 38 with tonight’s low around 18. Western Montana sees cloudiness and slight swings, while eastern Montana remains partly cloudy to cloudy with highs 35 to 50 and lows 15 to 30.
Two year old Clare Holdorf stopped breathing on Northwest Airlines Flight 635 at Gallatin Airport Bozeman. A stewardess gave oxygen and a resuscitator revived her before boarding resumed. Mother and child continued to Butte after a Bozeman doctor advised by telephone.

The Montana Senate approved two petitions urging Congress to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow apportionment by non population bases and to call a constitutional convention. Senator Gene Huntley opposed, warning the fight was a lost cause, with five senators voting against both resolutions. Each measure carried 51 names and sparked a packed gallery debate before a post noon vote.
Pro Grid Commissioner Joe Foss will headline the Butte Chamber of Commerce dinner Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Finlen Hotel Silver Bow Ballroom. Robert A.
