Tragedy Strikes Greek Steamer Cimarra Sea Disaster
The 1800 ton Greek steamer Cimarra struck a mine in the Gulf of Petalion near Athens and sank before dawn Sunday. Up to 400 feared dead among 525 passengers and 817 crew as five ships and planes joined in rescue efforts. One survivor, a 44 year old school teacher Aristedes Mytakis, described a chaotic scene with a wall of men on deck and many women and children missing.
