A Butte family on relief was burned out of their home on Continental Drive Monday afternoon after an airliner crash in East. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Thomas were at the county welfare office when the fire started in the basement east of Silver Bow County Hospital.

The strike settlement proposal from Mine-Mill totals 36.83 cents per hour, a cost Anaconda Co says Montana operations cannot bear. The Mine-Mill Joint Negotiating Committee offered no statement yet. Suit are being filed in district court to recover vacation pay owed to striking miners of Butte Local No 1. Federal mediator Bob McClelland says he was misquoted regarding contract length as the main obstacle to settlement. The strike, begun Aug 19, reaches day 154, a record for duration and wages lost.
