Butte hunter wounded in accidental gun incident
John Whalen a 25 year old teamster from 1705 Wall suffered a gunshot wound Sunday near the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The leg wound is not serious and he was treated in Bozeman before transfer to St James Community Hospital in Butte. The group included Melvin Case and four others named Henderson Hicks and Leigh. The bullet came from a 22 caliber pistol carried by Case.

Nerl D. Ogden an 80 year old Simms rancher died in a hospital in Great Falls after injuries from a car truck collision Wednesday He made a left turn into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Townsend driver Ray Goodwin who was not injured Montana Highway Patrol reported the incident was the state’s first traffic fatality of 1967 and notes last year at this time ten people had died on Montana highways.
