Wichita Air Force Tanker Crash Kills At Least 30
An Air Force Stratotanker on a test mission from McConnell Base crashed into a northeast Wichita neighborhood near 20th Street and Pratt Avenue. At least 30 people died including six airmen and 23 civilians, with 17 injured and many left homeless. The crash damaged many homes and destroyed 14, while fuel sightings and a May Day distress call were reported by witnesses.
