Montana approves Rock Creek water project in Carbon county
Final approval from the Public Works Administration brings a $826000 allocation for Rock Creek irrigation in Carbon county. Governor Cooney announced the plan which will aid about 400 farm families and remove many coal miners from relief. The project creates four reservoirs Skinner Glacier Lake Emerald Lake and Frosty to hold 31500 acre feet for 55000 acres, financed by water sales to farmers.

Five Killed in Gun Battles Across Illinois and California
A sheriff, a bank cashier, and a banker were killed with three wounded as three fierce engagements spanned three counties along a 30 mile line. In La Salle County Illinois Charles Bundy and Sheriff Glenn Axline died. Melvin Leis also died. Deputy Reinis Brown, Charles Seipp, Norbert Maas, and Arthur Thielen were wounded. In San Quentin California four convicts escaped then were recaptured after a running fight. Warden James B. Holohan was badly beaten. In Florida Okla waha agents killed Ma Barker and her son Fred in a six hour battle at the Bremer kidnapping case. Barker and her mother died, others injured.

Girl Born Without Throat Opening Receives Tube Support

In Sayre Oklahoma a bank robber identified as Elmer Ford surrendered at First National Bank after taking 1577 from three officials.
