Cory S. Parker, five weeks old, owed his life to his father Darrell B. Parker of 704 N Henry who performed mouth to mouth resuscitation after a choking episode linked to a respiratory infection. Cory was critical on admission but is reported gaining strength.
Rebels reportedly grabbed Prime Minister Balewa and Finance Minister Eboh as clashes erupted near Lagos. A Radio Lagos later claimed loyalty of Gen Ironsi and control of parts of the capital, with civilians fleeing to Dahomey amid reports of assassinations and disrupted communications.
John T. McMahan, president of the Northwest Travel Association, predicts 1966 will be among the biggest travel years. He cites a 10 to 15 percent rise last year across regions and expects even stronger inquiries this year. The annual meeting in Grants Pass included more than 30 representatives from state departments, railroads, and tourism groups.

In Saigon U S Secretary of State Rusk and South Viet Nam Prime Minister Ky say there are no signs North Viet Nam seeks a peaceful settlement. The joint communique notes Saigon insists that all aggression cease before any conference with the Communists.
In New Delhi Indira Gandhi daughter of the late Jawaharlal Nehru rises as the leading favorite within Congress to succeed Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri amid party endorsements. Her rise comes as political maneuvering includes Morarji Desai and Gulzari Lal Nanda with general elections in view.
The 1965 Montana Legislature funded two veterans groups to hire secretaries at $250 a month each, despite a 1963 Supreme Court ruling that made such funding unconstitutional. Gov. Tim Babcock refused to sign the contracts, calling the move an indirect evasion of the court decision while noting the bill's broad scope HB529.
The Educational Planning Committee to the Board of School Trustees urges immediate consideration of Emerson School replacement, Longfellow expansion, a new junior high, vocational facilities, land purchase, funding for curriculum studies, and long-range education planning. President Johnson bluntly warned Turkish Prime Minister Ismet Inonu against invading Cyprus in a June 5 1964 letter. He said NATO allies and the UN would react, and restricted use of US supplied arms. After talks in Washington Turkish forces did not advance. The exchange was made public at Turkey's request.
Mrs Kennedy and party arrived in Gstaad Switzerland for a ski vacation but a mob scene with tourists and 25 carloads of reporters forced her to quit after three runs. Harvard professor John Kenneth Galbraith accompanied her as she struggled to find privacy in the icy weather and crowds.
Montana Governor Tim Babcock addressed a Milwaukee audience at a testimonial for Governor Warren Knowles. He criticized reservations as socialist and argued Indians should develop self sufficiency from within their tribes, warning against continued dependence and handouts.
