FAIRBANKS Alaska AP a bright arctic moon lit the runway as a four engine transport evacuated Station Charley from the drifting ice floe. Four military personnel joined about 30 scientists and guards who had set up camp last May 440 miles northwest of Barrow Alaska. Captain James F Smith led the final landing at Ladd Air Force Base after weather and fog concerns. Also noted Missoula resident Dr Kenneth Bennington Station Charley leader and MSU graduate is the son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Bennington of Missoula He earned a geology PhD from the University of Chicago and served in both the Army and Air Force with action in the Pacific during World War II.

Three Are Killed In State Crashes In Nashua and Bozeman Montana
Three Montanans died in vehicle crashes on Friday. A Nashua train truck collision claimed Thomas Firemoon Jr. 62 and his wife about 60 of Frazer, both sole occupants of the truck. Priscilla Humphrey 19 of Great Falls died when two cars collided near Malmstrom AFB. A Spokane trucker William Travis was killed at Bozeman. The year’s highway deaths rise to six. the Nashua wreck echoed the October 10 crossing deaths of Charlotte Baney and Francis McGillis.

A 14 year old boy calling himself Fuehrer of a Nazi youth club told police he and a younger companion painted swastikas on a public school and left a "Heil Hitler" note. Police seized arms, flags, shirts, stamps, notebooks and 25 Nazi books from his home. The boy, son of a University of Detroit English teacher, said he led the group for 18 months after his brother joined the military in Germany. A 13 year old Detroit police sergeant’s son helped with some vandalism. another member was not identified. The two youths were questioned about ten other anti Semitic incidents but denied involvement.

Three Soviet Ships In Test Area Reported
