Montana Outdoors editor Tom Dickson notes AI generated images could impersonate real photos. He explains strict checks on original files and ethics to keep Montana photos authentic and warns AI could undermine wildlife conservation and mislead the public about species status.
Luke Duran, art director for 22 years, says no AI generated image has been submitted to the magazine to his knowledge. He adds the publication would not feature such images knowingly and recalls past cases of photos altered with software like Photoshop. He mentions a rare errant instance of a trout underwater photo that readers noted.
Montana Brewers Association launches the states first commercial statewide beer competition hosted by Lewis and Clark Brewing Co in Helena. Judges from across the country will spend two days evaluating entries for 19 categories with gold silver and bronze medals. The February 24 ceremony will crown Brewery of the Year and present the Community Impact Award.
