Truck Plows Into Sheep Killing 75 on Highway 91
An Idaho bound semi struck a herd of about 75 sheep along Highway 91 ten miles south of Armstead, killing the animals as they were being moved. Owner Sonny Peterson of Dell identified the herd. An eight engine B52 carrying two nuclear weapons crashed in a Western Maryland mountainside during a pre dawn blizzard. Maj. Thomas W. McCormick the only known survivor said the crew bailed out before impact and hid through a snowy night. The other four crewmen were initially listed as missing or unconfirmed as rescue efforts continued near Cumberland in the Appalachians.
