Five Boys Die After Ice Breaks on Pond Near Leedey

Maxville Woman, 98, Passes Away
Mrs. Tillie Schaubel 98 of Maxville died Saturday after a fall last September. Born January 15, 1859 in Germany she moved to the United States as a girl. She and her husband ran a ranch near Ashland then retired to Maxville to live with daughter Mrs. John Mellon. Surviving son Robert Schaubel daughter Mrs. Mellon and Mrs. Harold Wolfe four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Body is in Ross Funeral Home and will go to Hardin for services and burial at Custer Battlefield National Cemetery beside her husband.

Explosion at 619 South Jackson shattered the Decca residence while flames spread to 617 and 621 623 South Jackson. Two people were slightly injured as firemen from all districts battled the blaze for about an hour. The Decca home was unoccupied and neighbors escaped after a police officer forced a lock open. Gas line tests showed no leaks. The blast occurred around 11 40 a m and shattered windows blocks away.
